Project History: In 2007, the Grand Forks Park District and Altru Health System retained a national consulting firm (Alter-Care) to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of a new facility to replace Center Court Fitness Club, which would include medical services on-site.

Following a favorable outcome, the Park District Board of Commissioners determined the operations could be sustained through membership fees; however, the capital building costs must be covered through private donations, grants and leasing partners.
